Edinburgh Construction & Property Connections June 2020

June 24 @ 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Edinburgh Construction Connections

Networking dedicated for Construction and Property in Edinburgh and surroundings

Construction & Property Connections powered by Edinburgh Connections attracts anyone interested in this sector – architects and engineers, those working in the property market, developers, general contractors, subcontractors, manufacturers and importers of building materials, property investors and more.

The formal part of the evening will last about 30 minutes. We will start with 1-2 interview discussions. Then follows relaxed, informal networking over a snack and a drink when you can exchange business cards with all the other guests as well as with our speakers. Each guest will have the opportunity to deliver a 30-second pitch about their business.

We aim to help YOU meet new connections from your industry, build new relationships, possibly new customers, peer support, potential suppliers, collaborations, partnerships and we will have a bit of fun too.

  • Priority registration for Edinburgh Connections members on a first-come-first-served basis, max 2 delegates per business, free tickets.
  • The first 10 tickets for non-members are free of charge and then small fee of £10 for non-members
  • Your registration might be refused if you do not represent the construction or property industry

IMPORTANT – Please treat this (and other Networking events) as a client appointment, don’t book for the sake of booking, or on the chance that you might make it. Other than genuine emergencies, we will be monitoring cancellations very closely during 2020, don’t get caught with a cancellation FEE.

Guest Speaker – Steven McKenzie, JAD Joinery Ltd

Edinburgh Connections

JAD Joinery Ltd, a multi accredited Sub or Principal contractor based in Edinburgh, grew its turnover from £1M to £6M in just 2 years. Since it’s 2012 incorporation to 2017 JAD only operated within the New Housing sector, partnering the likes of Miller & Persimmon Homes. Steven attributes JAD’s growth to diversifying into new sectors i.e. commercial, hospitality, education, etc, where more attractive margins are found; this coupled with the careful promotion of longstanding Joiners into management roles has seen the company thrive. Operations Director, Steven and his business partner and founder John Dickson, have invested heavily on industry accreditations and staff training since coming together in October 2017. They both established the JAD Apprentice Academy where they help young people and adult trainees gain an apprenticeship in Joinery, and to date employ 20 on a full time basis. Steven believes a solid foundation is critical of any business, and you must speculate to accumulate in the longer term, and will discuss this during a Q&A  session.
